My Journey with Energy Work Began in 1997

Long before I was reading tarot professionally at weddings, before I became The Wedding Witch, and before close-up magic and performance entered my life, I was already working with energy. In 1998, in Brighton, I began my first explorations into energy work and healing. I was young, curious, and deeply drawn to the unseen layers beneath everyday life: intuition, ritual, embodiment, and the way attention itself can soothe and transform.

I worked with two mentors at the time, Chrissie and Maggie, who introduced me to The Sussex Healers, who practiced hands-on healing. The idea was that I would train and then become a qualified hands-on healer. Life had other plans, and I merrily skipped off to London to be an actor at the Millennium Dome!

Recently, I formalised this long-held practice by training as a Reiki practitioner with the incredible Carole Carlton in Bewdley, Worcestershire. Carole is a Reiki Master teacher and author of the Mrs Darley series of Pagan books. Reiki training with Carole has given language and structure to my energy work, allowing me to work gently and respectfully with energy to support emotional clarity, grounding, and calm.

Now, when I read tarot at weddings, I do so consciously and intentionally as a Reiki practitioner. This does not mean dramatic gestures, hands-on healing, or anything intrusive. It means that each reading is held in a calm, focused energetic field — grounded, safe, and attuned to the person sitting with me. My cards are Reiki infused and cleansed, as are my crystals and decor at the tarot table.
